20 Teams Vie for Top Spot in North America’s Most Prestigious Jewish High School Basketball Competition �ۿ۴�ý will convene 20 yeshiva high school basketball teams from across the U.S. and Canada from March 2-6 for YU’s 26th . The teams will face off at the Max Stern Athletic Center on YU’s Wilf Campus in Washington Heights to compete for the top spot in North America's most prestigious Jewish high school basketball competition. The tournament will also include a lively Shabbaton and tours of the University’s campus to help the young all-stars gain an early appreciation for YU’s unique educational environment. “Our tournament was established to honor the legacy of former �ۿ۴�ýMaccabees coach Bernard 'Red' Sarachek, a larger-than-life figure whose dedication to the �ۿ۴�ý students and the greater Jewish community is well-known. As a fitting tribute, the tournament that bears his name has become a community-wide celebration of good sportsmanship, Jewish unity and �ۿ۴�ý pride,” said Rabbi Dr. Kenneth Brander, the Vice President of University and Community Life. “We are thrilled to host high school students from across North America and give them a firsthand look at the �ۿ۴�ý experience—showing them that only at Yeshiva can a Shabbat-observant college student play NCAA basketball and learn from intellectual giants in all fields of Jewish study and general knowledge.” Participating schools for this year's tournament will include: The Frisch School (Paramus, NJ); The Heschel School (New York, NY); Shalhevet High School (Los Angeles, CA); SAR Academy (Riverdale, NY); Valley Torah High School (Valley Village, CA); Katz Yeshiva High School of South Florida (Boca Raton, FL); Cooper Yeshiva High School (Memphis, TN); �ۿ۴�ý High School of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA); Hebrew Academy (Miami Beach, FL); Scheck Hillel Community School (North Miami Beach, FL); Yeshivat Or Chaim (Toronto, ON); Fuchs Mizrachi School (Beachwood, OH); Maimonides School (Brookline, MA); Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School (Livingstone, NJ); Ida Crown Jewish Academy (Skokie, IL); Hebrew Academy of Montreal (Conte Saint-Luc, Quebec); Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA); Kohelet Yeshiva High School (Merion Station, PA); Harkham-Gaon Academy (Los Angeles, CA); and /Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy (New York, NY).
