From Susan Bauer (Nov. 9, 2021) re: New Staff Dear Friends, Today is a great day in the Shevet Glaubach Center. It makes me so happy to introduce you to our new team members: Beth Bernhardt, John Perez and Autumn Payne. Prior to YU, Beth was an assistant director at N¿Û¿Û´«Ã½in the Wasserman Center for Career Development, where she supported undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni. During her time at NYU, Beth increased programming for international students and launched a variety of initiatives for STEM students having worked closely with the Tandon School of Engineering. Beth also worked at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) as an Assistant Director of Internships & Employment, where she focused on technology students. At UMBC, she built partnerships with a range of campus departments and ran an Intern Success Practicum course. Beth also brings experience with academic advising, teaching and curriculum development. She holds a M.S. in Higher Education and B.A. in History from The Pennsylvania State University, along with a Diploma in Coaching from NYU. In her free time, Beth enjoys hiking, cooking, and exploring new places and cuisines. Fun facts: Beth was a competitive swimmer through high school and will travel great distances for a good farmers market. After working as part of Verizon’s HR team focused on college and entry-level recruiting for over seven years, John made the jump into higher ed. He returned to his alma mater and spent close to six years at the Rutgers Business School’s career services office. In this role, he wore multiple hats including career advising, student programming, employer relations and event management. In the Spring of 2019, he accepted a new role with the NJ Institute of Technology as an Assistant Director on their employer relations team. It is his experience in both advising and employer relationship building within both business and technology that he is bringing to YU. He’s excited to start his new journey at Yeshiva and realize his life-long dream of working in the Big Apple  =). Fun facts: John has been on all 7 continents with Antarctica being his favorite and he met his wife after crashing her 4^th of July picnic in 2010. Autumn began her career as an educator for cultural institutions before transitioning to higher education at the City University of New York. Since 2015, she’s been a volunteer career counselor for Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit organization that serves veterans through job search assistance. Autumn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from U.C. Berkeley, a Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Brooklyn College, and a Professional Chocolatier Certificate from Ecole Chocolat. She loves reading, learning new skills, and exploring different areas through walking tours and sampling regional dishes at local restaurants. Fun facts: Autumn is a certified chocolatier and an avid reader. So…if you are looking for a great recipe, travel advice, or a suggestion for a good read or delicious chocolate…we have you covered.
