Dr. Steven Fine, Dean Pinkhos Churgin Professor of Jewish History and director of the ۿ۴ý Center for Israel Studies, delivered two lectures recently.
On October 24, at the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana, Fine presented “‘He Went to the Synagogue as Was His Custom’ (Luke 4): Synagogues in the World of Hillel and Jesus” as part of the 2017 Bergdall Endowed Lectureship on Biblical Studies.
On November 7, Fine spoke about late ancient students and Judaism at The Center for Late Ancient Studies and the Duke Center for Jewish Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
