A book recently published by Dr. Cynthia Wachtell, director of the Stern College for Women S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program and research associate professor of American studies, has been named a non-fiction finalist in the . According to its Web site, the award is intended to “celebrate books, writers and readers who engender and sustain the life of the imagination and to highlight authors, illustrators, printers, publishers and the literary heritage of the State of Connecticut.” Wachtell’s book, , offers an important new interpretation of American antiwar writing and explores the antiwar sentiments of literary giants such as Melville, Twain, Whitman, Hawthorne and Others.
