Over the past decade, Dr. Ortin-Peralta has dedicated her career to conducting rigorous research on suicide risk and prevention among youth and their families, while also mentoring students and trainees to ground their research and clinical work in evidence-based practices.
Her research program employs a mixed-methods approach to identify developmental and cultural risk factors for suicidal behavior in children and adolescents. She also investigates how familial influences, both within and across generations, shape youth suicide risk and overall family well-being.
Dr. Ortin-Peralta has received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD), the Alicia Koplowitz Foundation (Spain), and the INVEST Research Flagship Centre (Finland). Her research and collaborations have resulted in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as presentations at academic conferences, clinical forums, and community events.
